Short description of the Amazon – Tambopata Peru – Sandoval Lake:

Sandoval Lake is a lake situated in the Sandoval Lake Reserve, within Amazon Rainforest, in the Madre de Dios Department, near a city of Puerto Maldonado.

The reserve refuges diverse animals, for example, giant river otters, turtles, black caimans, monkeys, birds such as a prehistoric bird Shansho, macaws, parrots, cormorants, kingfishers and others.

Collpa de palmeras, a special place where macaws and parrots fly down to eat dry palms that are rich in mineral salts, calcium, sodium, potassium, etc. These trace elements help them to digest.

We also explore other interesting places near the Sandoval Lake such as the Cachuela clay-lick, Monkey Island – a habitat of 3 monkey species, and the Collpa de palmeras.

DAY 1: PUERTO MALDONADO –   SANDOVAL LAKE LODGE  TAMBOPATA PERU:

You are welcomed and pick-up from the airport/coach terminal of Puerto Maldonado by our Representative to take you to our office where you can leave your baggage not necessary for the trip. Then, we transfer you to a local port where you board a motorboat and navigate down the Madre de Dios River.

On the way, we observe various mammal species such as turtles, birds, lizards, turtles, caimans, after where we will stop in the monkey island we can see some species and then we are going to do the canopy walk way, zip line etc., after we will take our boat to reach to the checkpoint of the Sandoval Lake Reserve and after passing a check, we start walking for 5 km (1 an

DAY 2: TAMBOPATA  PERU – SANDOVAL LAKE   GIANT RIVER OTTERS  –  LONG  WALK

Today we need get up very early in the morning enable us to be on the lake for sunrise and a hopeful encounter with the family of Giant Otters who frequent the lake and are most active at this time of day. Sandoval Lake offers abundant wildlife including over 40 species of birds resident to its lake margins, most of the fish-eating water birds around the lake actively fish in the early morning as well, and this outing should provide excellent views, of the prehistoric- looking Hoatzins, These are easy to observe and take you many photograph of the wildlife where we will use our a paddled canoes

after return to the lodge where we will take our breakfast , and then we take long walk in the deeper of the wildlife . which has a huge variety of flora and fauna,searching families of mammals ,reptiles , Birds , monkeys, peccaries , tapir , Tucans , as well as giant trees, and many air plants like lianas that are growing together in good reciprocal way of live. DAY 3: SANDOVAL LAKE  RESERVE – MACAW PALM TREE – TAMBOPATA PERU

Another early wake up expects us today as we go to the surroundings of the Sandoval Lake where huge number of various palms grow in its water creating an area of marsh.

This place is called  Macaw Palm Tree  (Collpa de Palmeras) and it attracts various macaw species and other parrots to eat sawdust of its palms as it contains sodium, calcium, potassium and other minerals helping them to digest. Then, we go back to the lodge to be given breakfast. Later, we take a next trip going to observe stunning flora and fauna of the Sandoval Lake Reserve. We can appreciate monkeys, deer, wild boars, tapirs or spectacled bears, just to name a few. For lunch, we get back to the lodge. Afterwards, we have given some time off to rest or enjoy a bath in the Sandoval Lake (no worries, there are no piranhas or other danger animals during the day).

Then, we board a canoe to cross the lake to a place where we can better appreciate a beautiful sunset above the lake! At 7 pm, we return to the lodge for dinner while waiting for the moonlight, a suitable time to go watching caimans again! An overnight is in the Sandoval Lake lodge.

DAY 4: SANDOVAL LAKE LODGE  –  BACK  TO PUERTO MALDONADO

After breakfast, we first board a canoe to sail over the Sandoval Lake and then we walk back to the checkpoint and from there, we continue sailing the Madre de Dios River by a motorboat towards Puerto Maldonado. We pick our baggage up in our office and then, we are transferred either to the airport or the coach terminal.

DÍA 1 : PUERTO MALDONADO – Lago Sandoval – TAMBOPATA PERÚ :

Le damos la bienvenida y recogida desde la terminal del aeropuerto / dirigente de Puerto Maldonado por nuestro representante que le llevará a nuestra oficina donde podrá dejar su equipaje , no es necesario para el viaje . Luego, nos trasladaremos al puerto local , donde abordará una lancha y navegaremos por el río Madre de Dios .

En el camino , observamos varias especies de mamíferos , tales como tortugas, aves , lagartos , tortugas , caimanes, después de donde nos detendremos en la isla de los monos , podemos ver algunas especies y luego vamos a hacer el camino a pie canopy , tirolesa , etc . , después tomaremos nuestro bote para llegar al puesto de control de la reserva del lago Sandoval y después de pasar un cheque, comenzar a caminar durante 5 km ( 1 a n

DÍA 3 : LAGO SANDOVAL RESERVA – LORO PALMERA – TAMBOPATA PERÚ

Otro despertar temprano hoy espera que vamos a los alrededores del lago Sandoval , donde gran número de diferentes palmas crecen en el agua creando un área de pantano.

Este lugar se llama Macaw Palmera ( Collpa Palmeras ) y que atrae a varios loros guacamayos y otras especies para comer serrín de sus aletas , ya que contiene sodio, calcio , potasio y otros minerales Ellos ayudan a digerir. Luego , regresamos al albergue para que le den el desayuno. Más tarde, nos tomamos el viaje de ir a buscar la flora impresionantes y fauna de la reserva del lago Sandoval. Podemos apreciar monos, ciervos , jabalíes , tapires u osos de anteojos , sólo para nombrar unos pocos. Para el almuerzo, regresamos a la casa de campo . DÍA 4 : LAGO SANDOVAL LODGE – VOLVER A PUERTO MALDONADO

Después del desayuno, abordaremos primero la canoa para navegar por el Lago Sandoval y luego caminamos de regreso al punto de control y desde allí , seguiremos navegando por el río Madre de Dios por una lancha hacia Puerto Maldonado. Recogemos nuestro equipaje en nuestra oficina y entonces, se transfieren a el aeropuerto o la terminal de autobuses .
